PicoCELA Backhaul Engine is a Linux application that adds a multi-hop communication capability
to a wireless platform using its wireless interface.

A MIMOZONE is the complete coverage created by aggregating many super small cells into ONE continuous
zone using PicoCELA’s innovative wireless backhaul engine.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS of PicoCELA Backhaul Engine

Your device should have:
- 1 or 2 radios to be exclusively used for wireless backhaul
- Linux OS
- Wireless interface with ad-hoc mode capability
- SDK supporting required APIs such as RSSI measurements

SteadyHop

SteadyHop is a central feature of PicoCELA Backhaul Engine and provides high-performance wireless multi-hop functionality. This allows PicoCELA Enhanced nodes to scales
to 10+ hops from a single core node.


 
Benefits
On multi-hop networks powered by PicoCELA Backhaul Engine, nodes can be easily added and removed,
without installing or pulling Ethernet cables.

Cabling requirements can be reduced by up to 90%, which greatly reduces deployment costs
and significantly reduces deployment headaches.

SteadyHop extends Wi-Fi coverage to locations that would not otherwise be possible due to wiring restrictions.
It overcomes the physical limitations of wired networks and provides maximum flexibility in the design of a wireless space.
Since Ethernet cables no longer dictate where devices are to be located,
they can be placed at optimal locations throughout entire facilities.

SwiftNode
Are you struggling with positioning access points in the right place to get continuous coverage without dead zones ?

PicoCELA implements Interactive Node Setup (INS) using radio visualization into its backhaul engine. Each node includes an interactive feature that allows non-technical personnel to easily find the best position for each unit. In the interactive node setup, the person installing the network simply pushes a button built into the base station during installation. If the Link LED on the node flashes after a few seconds, s/he knows that the unit has achieved a backhaul link with a neighboring node. If no LED flashes, the base station is wrongly placed and thus the installer knows to change the position of the node.

HealSwitch

When a node in the MIMOZONE fails (due to malfunction or power outage) it can affect the service of other nodes in the wireless network that use that particular node for data relay.
HealSwitch provides self-healing capability, detecting a failure and quickly repairing relay links to keep the MIMOZONE stable . The feature also includes DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection)
a mechanism that automatically changes frequency channel allocation in the backhaul network to avoid interference from nearby radio frequency or radar systems.

Hybrid Backhaul
Need to bypass physical obstacles ?

Hybrid backhaul offers the possibility of connecting nearby nodes using either wired or wireless links. Wireless links are used as default, but in cases where obstructions inhibit wireless communication, a wired link can be easily added.
